In a nutshell: Losing people you love is hard. Aurora De La Torre knows moving back to a place that was once home isn’t going to be easy. Starting your whole life over probably isn’t supposed to be. But a small town in the mountains might be the perfect remedy for a broken heart. Checking out her landlord across the driveway just might cure it too.

What I thought: Another classic Mariana Zapata novel! And can you hear that? Yes that’s me over here cheering my little slow burn loving heart out! This novel is set against the backdrop of mountains, and a little backstory on myself here - I used to work in an outdoor store, I met my husband through the outdoors club at university (how cool were we?!) and think bushwalking and camping is pretty much the best way you can spend a weekend (outside reading a book that is). So when I saw that the main character Aurora was going to spend a fair chunk of the book hiking, yes I was most definitely here for this. Don’t be deterred though, I might talk up the outdoors in the novel but really as per classic Mariana the story is all about the slow burn romance and character development. We have a grumpy single dad Rhodes who wants nothing to do with our sunshine Aurora and of course we get to see how things between them evolve into a friendship and then more. With themes including family relationships, realising your worth and standing up for yourself, this book is beautifully written, and should be added to your TBR list now!
