Type of series: Trilogy

In a nutshell: City girl Calla Fletcher attempts to reconnect with her estranged father, and unwittingly finds herself torn between her desire to return to the bustle of Toronto and a budding relationship with a rugged Alaskan pilot.

What I thought: Can I move to Alaska? That’s what this book made me want to do. The landscape descriptions were vivid, epic and the slow burn love story was perfect. Calla and Jonah are officially one of my favourite book couples and I would like to move next door when I relocate my family to Alaska. This book ticks everything in what I would mark as my perfect book - a slow burn enemies to lovers romance, emotional depth, superbly written, set against a wilderness backdrop and filled with so much heart it took me three rereads to absorb it all. Calla’s growth through the story is a call out in particular.

One of my all time favourites, The Simple Wild is the first in a trilogy that is oh so satisfying to read and guarantees a book hangover.
